Gerry: I believe Maddie's alive

GERRY McCann “strongly believes” his missing daughter Madeleine can still be found alive – and yesterday launched a new bid to trace her.

He spoke out a week after files revealed Portuguese officials think she is “most probably” dead.

Determined dad Gerry, 40, insisted: “The content of these files has been extensively reported. It will be clear to everyone now that there is absolutely no evidence that suggests Madeleine has been seriously harmed.

“Knowing this, we strongly believe Madeleine is out there and can be found.” Cops released 30,000 pages of evidence after closing the case on Maddie, who vanished from Praia da Luz in May last year aged three. But private investigators are still working for Gerry and wife Kate, 40.

Last night Gerry urged ANYONE who contacted cops to now speak to the McCann search team.

He pleaded in his internet blog: “Now that the authorities are no longer looking for Madeleine we implore everyone who has provided information to contact us.

Leads

“We will guarantee that all information will be treated in the strictest confidence. You can help us find Madeleine.

“Our investigators continue to explore credible leads and will continue to do so as long as Madeleine is missing.”

The couple, both doctors, from Rothley, Leics, last week thanked The Sun for highlighting a possible sighting in Belgium. It turned out to be a false alarm.
