TORIES blasted the Government yesterday over its “lamentable” treatment of British troops.

Defence spokesman Liam Fox claimed the military covenant — a deal between the armed forces and public they serve — is not being met.

Dr Fox, who demanded a review, also blasted people who treat troops as outcasts when they return home.

He told the party’s conference in Birmingham: “People insulting troops makes my blood boil. Being in uniform should open, not close, doors.”
