Outburst ... Prince Philip
The Royals were upset at micro-management of events by Downing Street following Diana’s death in 1997, television journalist Adam Boulton claims.
Tensions boiled over when No10 “spinners” came to Buckingham Palace to discuss the roles the young Princes William and Harry should have in the funeral.
Boulton writes: “The Queen had relished the moment when Philip bellowed over the speakerphone from Balmoral, ‘F*** off. We are talking about two boys who have lost their mother’.”
The claim is made by Sky News political editor Boulton in his book Tony’s Ten Years, documenting Tony Blair’s time in power.
