LEWIS HAMILTON’S title hopes are shining bright after Felipe Massa’s night-time horror show.

The Brit finished third in Singapore as F1’s first floodlit race turned into a nightmare for Ferrari.

Hamilton increased his lead to seven points after rival Massa drove away from a pit stop with his fuel hose still attached.

Now the McLaren star is 3-1 ON for the crown and can finish second in the remaining races in Japan, China and Brazil and still win the title — even if Massa wins all three.

But Hamilton, who saw former McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso triumph, insists he still faces a tough fight to become the youngest champion in history.

The Herts-born star, 23, said: “I’m going to approach the next few races exactly the same as we have this one.

“We came here with a one- point lead but I could see that the Ferraris were very competitive and Felipe was driving very well.

“It would have been tough to score more points than him in this race, but fortunately the race had a couple of incidents which didn’t benefit them. But we definitely won’t get ahead of ourselves because, as you can see, lots of things can happen.”

Massa was given the green light to leave his pit box but pulled away with the hose still dangling from his car.

The Brazilian, handed a penalty, lost two minutes after stopping at the end of the pit lane to wait for mechanics to pull it clear and he finished 13th.
