Gerry owner in Sprint row

OWNER Gerry Galligan has hit out at the decision not to reopen Saturday’s Betfred Sprint Cup.

The race was due to be run at Haydock last Saturday but it was abandoned and moved to Doncaster.

The BHA have opted to allow in just the 22 horses confirmed at last Monday’s five-day stage.

Galligan took out Sir Gerry due to testing conditions. He said: “At Haydock the going was heavy and we decided not to run him.

“Saturday’s race will be on better ground and my horse should be allowed to run. It’s disgraceful.”
