ON THE RAIL ... Kingsgate Native with Seb Sanders on board
And rider Ryan Moore, who jocked himself off Saturday's St Leger winner, could gain some Group 1 consolation.
He is top of Kent trainer John Best's list to ride the Group 1-winning flyer, who finished second in the Paris thriller 12 months ago.
Sadly, next month's run will be Kingsgate Native's last tango - in Paris or anywhere else.
Best said: "The Abbeye will be his last race. It's sad Seb Sanders will not be able to ride as he was on board in the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot.
"Ryan Moore, who rode Kingsgate Native when he was third in the Nunthorpe at Newmarket on his last run, will be offetred the ride in Paris.
"Kingsgate Native worked very well this morning this morning and I'm hopeful he can go one better this year.
"If Ryan cannot take the ride we could end up with a French jockey. I don't speak a word of the language but my instructions will be simple - go out and make all."
Kingsgate Native is due to stand at the Chieveley Park Stud next year.
