The former jump jockey will saddle last year’s runner-up Docofthebay in Saturday’s Cambridgeshire handicap at Newmarket.
The four-year-old chased home smart Pipedreamer in the annual nine-furlong charge 12 months ago.
Osborne said: “The Doc is in good order. I think he’s just starting to come right. I’m happier with him now than I have been all season and he does seem to do well at this time of year. He has more weight to carry this time but he is a nice horse.
“The key to this horse is a strong pace. I don’t think he so much runs well because of the numbers in big-race fields but more because you usually get a fast pace.
“Smaller fields can become slower and more tactical races but a strong pace is one advantage of running in a race like the Cambridgeshire.”
Luca Cumani dominates the betting for the Cambridgeshire - despite not declaring ante-post favourite Presvis.
The Newbury winner was left out of the entries by the Italian but he still has new market leader Swop (11-2) and fancied Ask The Butler (12-1).
Apprentice jockey David Probert was rushed to hospital for x-rays on an ankle injury following a fall at Bath yesterday.
Probert has ridden 39 winners this season and is fighting out the apprentices’ title with pal William Buick.
