LONG-TERM GOAL ... Eddie Jones
Sarries have won only one trophy since Nigel Wray started pouring millions into the club 13 years ago.
But rugby director Jones, who helped South Africa to World Cup glory last year, warns it could take years to deliver the trophies demanded by fans.
Jones, whose side face Northampton today buoyed by their 44-14 rout of Newcastle, said: “There are no instant formulas in rugby. We are building something here and it will take time
“We have a lot of caution in the game right now, teams are unsure of these experimental law variations, so are referees.
“I’ve told our players to be bold, play what’s in front of them. But also play with intelligence. We lost our first couple of games very narrowly and I didn’t panic. So I won’t get over-excited after a very good win.”
Jones, who names an unchanged XV for the third consecutive game, will not follow the lead of other clubs by resting players despite a run of three fixtures in eight days.
He added: “I’ll field the team I believe is suited to the next game and nothing else will enter the equation. We go to Bristol on Wednesday night and face Llanelli in the EDF Cup on Sunday week. But I don’t go for chopping and changing, nor do I prioritise competitions.
“Inevitable knocks and bumps force changes without pre- planning them.”
Kris Chesney, 34, will follow Simon Shaw by becoming the second player to make 200 Premiership appearances if the forward comes on as a sub today.
LEICESTER have signed former All Black wing Scott Hamilton, 28, from Canterbury. He begins a two-year deal in November.
