Both fighters demonstrated excellent poise and resilience in defending their opponent’s offence, with Neer looking dangerous with strong strikes and slams.
The fight was very close and the victory could have gone to either grappler, but Diaz eked out the win and heaped praise on Neer after the bout.
Diaz said: “Josh Neer, he ain't no black belt in jiu-jitsu like the other guys I've been fighting. This dude right here can fight.
“All these other jiu-jitsu guys and and wrestlers, you all need to learn how to box. Get in here and fight us. This dude is down.”
He added: “I train hard. I just try to work my ass off, I ain't quitting and neither is Josh Neer.”
