3 ways to wear ... a checked shirt

EVERYONE knows tartan and check are big news – but we still fear we’ll look like a lumberjack if we try them out.

The good news is there are loads of ways to jazz up the latest check-style shirts.

The easy option is to wear with denim at the weekends for a cool and casual feel. And you can achieve a smarter look when you team them with a tank and tailored trousers.

Or, if you are determined not to let go of the nu-rave trend, why not wear with clashing prints and bright colours, with a hippy hairband to boot?

Here, CHLOE WOOD shows you three ways to work the look, see pictures above right.

ONE - Shirt, £28, Miss Selfridge; bag, £24.99, and heels, £69.99, both River Island; jeans, £30, Topshop; necklace, £15, Accessorize.

TWO - Shirt, £10, Matalan; skirt, £10, Primark; vest, £4.50, M&S; footless tights, £4.25, mytights.com; trainers, £34.99, Converse.
